Natural Skin Care Product Review IntroductionKiss My Face skin moisturizer is the fifth worst skin care product in the skin moisturizer category. This product's official name is Kiss My Face Obsessively Organic Tighten Up, Firming Body Lotion.
Positives
There is nothing positive about this product according to the ingredient label. There are a few organic ingredients thrown in for token value, though these are outweighed by the toxins. The Kiss My Face skin moisturizer does not meet any natural ingredient parameter.
It is not certified organic and it uses synthetic chemicals that have been tested on animals. The fact that it is not certified organic - obviously - means that there is a possibility the product contains G.M.O - genetically modified organisms - and pesticides.
Negatives
The Kiss My Face skin moisturizer contrary to the image portrayed does contain toxic chemicals. Some of the ingredients have never been tested for safety according to the C.I.R.- Cosmetic Ingredient Review. The chemicals that are certified by the C.I.R have been tested on animals. This is contrary to the false claims made on its website, where they claim to be against animal testing without admitting that some of their ingredients are animal tested.
Cancer Linkage
Kiss My Face Obsessively Organic Tighten Up, Firming Body Lotion scores in 7 of 12 toxic parameters. Of most concern the Kiss My Face skin moisturizer contains two toxic very ingredients -HYDROGENATED LECITHIN and tocopherol. These chemicals have been linked to cancer and other health problems.
Penetration Enhancers
Also present is a penetration enhancer- lecithin. These penetration agents work to infiltrate the skin membrane - i.e. penetration enhancer - and in doing so may increase exposures to carcinogens.
Untested Chemicals
Kiss My Face skin moisturizer contains 10 unassessed chemicals that have not been assessed for safety in cosmetic formulas by the C.I.R. These chemicals are Carrageenan, Aloe Vera Gel, GLYCERIN, Carrageenan, Canola Oil, Shea Butter, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, Geranium Essential Oil, Sandalwood Essential Oil, Palmarosa Essential Oil.
Parabens
Kiss My Face skin moisturizer also contains parabens, chemicals that have been recently linked to breast cancer in women. This study was reported by the BBC Sunday 11 January 2004.
Recommendation
My advice is this, DO NOT believe the hype and false claims of the Kiss My Face brand. This product is just one example across their line of how they hoodwink their trusting customers into believing they are natural, or in their case organic.
Stating that your product is organic while it contains animal tested cancer linking chemicals degrades the very meaning of organic. This company is another one that has hijacked the natural and organic terms to jump on the natural bandwagon. The ingredient listing speaks louder than any rhetoric on a company website. If you use Kiss My Face Obsessively Organic Tighten Up, Firming Body Lotion now I strongly urge you to get rid of it. Don't fill the coffers of a company that KNOWINGLY uses toxic ingredients in their so called natural skin care product lines. Vote with your wallet and maybe Kiss My Face in time will learn not to put their customer's health at risk. If you use or continue to use this product you may suffer health effects in the long term. Alternatives There are legitimate alternatives to toxic products like these. You can make your own moisturizer products using natural ingredients.
